Have Slight Bilateral Apical Pleural Parenchymal Thickening. On Augmentin. Should I Worry?
Hello. I have a slight bilateral apical pleural parenchymal thickening. I was a smoker but quit 20 years ago (52 years old. I have a productive cough right now following a cold (2 weeks), am currently on augmentin (10 day course, bid) and an aerobically fit (a runner and have been for some 30+ years). I ve never tested PPD postive but have been overseas working in Africa and Asia in the developing countries and probably have been exposed to TB. Is this something I should be worried about and should I see a pulmonologist? Thanks.
There is a long list of causes of apical pleural thickening. They may be pathological or it may be an accidental finding and quite innocuous.
I suggest that you consult a pulmonologist who can physically examine you and ask for necessary tests before giving you a clean chit.
