Have Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Taking Movicol Sachets For Relieving Cramping Pain

I have colon cancer stage 4 I am 51yrs it progressing but lately the pain from cramping pain is unbelievable can t go toilet been on going for week s dr s told me up to 8 sachets movicol a day and coloxyl seem to work but the cramping and wind pain form them is worse day and nite any advice would be lovely.Thank you.

Movicol and coloxyl are given to relieve constipation. coloxyl (stool softener) drug may be associated with cramp pain . you can try liquid paraffin or biscodyl tablet instead of coloxyl. As you may require prolonged use of laxatives its better to try various alternatives for short term instead of some particular drug for long time. Hope this helps.

it is preferable to take anti-spasmodic painkillers. Though movicol will help you get good motions and clean the bowels, the pain you describe is due to the contraction of the intestines which in a normal individual goes unnoticed.
