Have Swollen Gum, Noticed White Pus. Worried About The Findings?

I have swollen gum after trying to get stuck mango hair out in between my front teeth. I used floss and toothpick then the next day swelled gum. after 2 days, swelling got better but I noticed some white pus. Never had gum diseases and haven't had cavities for 10 years. I feel like there is still mango stuck in my teeth. Do I need to go see the dentist? or can I just continue cleaning my teeth, (brushing, flossing, gargling with listerine) and would it get better on its own?

Hello,
As you had mentioned, gums are swollen and pus has developed at the site of injury.
This indicates periodontal infection.
I would advice you to visit a dentist as soon as possible.
Meanwhile gargle using warm saline frequently.
Use interdental soft bristled toothbrush to remove the food debris completely.
Rinse mouth after every meals.
Please do not impinge the area with pins or toothpicks.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for asking,
When any food particle get stucked in gum, causes trauma to soft tissue.
This trauma causes gingival abscess so pus comes out.
Make a habit of using floss and brushing twice daily.
Visit a dentist for scaling so that stucked particle can be removed.
Use antiseptic mouthwash twice daily.
Take antibiotic coverage to control abscess.
Take care

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

As you have mentioned in your history that you have tried nearly all measures to take out the mango hair. Therefore in my view, it is good to see your dentist.

The reason for this is,because inter dental areas in our mouth cannot be approached by using normal brushing and flossing all the time.

Dentist has got different kinds of specific probes for those areas, which can clean your mouth in total.

Also pieces of struck food debris can also be easily flushed out.
Thus please make a visit to your dentist.Meanwhile please continue with warm saline rinses.

Hope it help.

Thanks.

Take care.
