u have just undergone tooth extraction 10 days before .but in general without any infection healing process should start and u should hav that much pain or swelling after 5-7 days.now few things can explain ur condition
1.faulty tooth extraction ...some broken root might be there in side the socket
2.improper removal of granulation tissue as hav chronic infection rlt to the tooth extracted
3.added infection
4. dry socket
5 .improper mouth wash with warm normal saline
i will suggest u to use good antibiotic like sporidex af(375-750mg) twice daily with metronidazole 400 mg thrice daily for 5 day with frequent warm normal saline mouth rinse try to keep the worm saline towards the affected part as long as u can. apply metrogyl dg over the affected area .after trying all of these ,still ur problem persist then go for an iopar (dental xray) to the tooth has been extracted properly or not.but i feel u get well after doing doing what i said. get well soon

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Extraction of the tooth is often associated with post operative complications like pain and swelling.
Dont worry about the symptoms as they will subside after sometimes.
Follow the post operative instruction properly.
According to your clinical history i suppose that the infection in your tooth was deep after extraction a curettage and rinsing of socket with antiseptic saline rinses was required.
I would suggest you to take a course of antibiotics and analgesics for 3-5 days.
If the symptoms persists or worsen visit the Dentist and get the checkup done.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this helps out.

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

Extraction of tooth often ends with complications like pain and swelling post extraction .

usually it takes 7 to 10 days for the extraction wound to heal and close completely provided if there is no infection .

After extraction antibiotic and analgesic coverage is must to prevent infection of the extraction site and to promote healing.

i would suggest you to start with a antibiotic and analgesic course consulting your dentist , which helps in subsiding the swelling and pain.

follow all the post extraction instructions and rinse the mouth with lukewarm saline or antiseptic mouth rinse.

If the swelling ,heaviness and pain do not subside after 2 weeks of extraction you need to get the examination done by a dentist for DRY socket.

Since there is mild pain and swelling in your case , i hope it will subside in coming days do not worry.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Hi,
Thanks for asking query,
There are many reasons for post operative complication like-
Traumatic extraction of tooth.
Remaining root piece in the socket.
Excessive soft tissue manipulation during extraction.
Dry socket.
Improper cleaning of socket having extraction.sometimes pain and swelling also occur normally after tooth extraction.
I suggest you to visit your dentist get it checked clinically and radio graphically.
TAKE PROPER ANTIBIOTIC AND ANALGESIC prescribed by your dentist, gargle with warm saline water 3 to 4 times a day , use antiseptic mouthwash , prevent food retention .
Hope this will help you.

Hi Chauhan,
Thanks for writing to us.
Normally extraction socket heals within one week,if you do not have any systemic diseases like diabetes mellitus/hypertension is associated.
Swelling around the gums may be due to-
Dry socket formation.
Root/tooth pieces remaining within the socket.
Traumatic extraction undergone.
I would advice you to get a thorough clinical evaluation done by your dentist.
Meanwhile gargle frequently using warm saline and betadine solution.
Rinse mouth after every meals.
Maintain oral hygiene well.
Use chlorhexidine mouthrinse to gargle.
Take complete course of antibiotics after consulting with your dentist.
Dressing the socket using povidine iodine can enhance wound healing.
Hope this helps.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

The swelling is 'mild'; the pain is 'little' - that means there is steady improvement
You will be alright in a few more days.
These are the residua of injury and inflammation from the manipulation.
Infection is unlikely from these features.
You need not do anything - except to continue the dentist's instruction
If in another week, you are not alright, see your dentist again

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
