Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
I would first like to start by saying that not all vaginal infections are of fungal origin. The medication you are taking is for a
fungal infection. In fact, most of the common vaginal infections are of a bacterial source, and would not respond to anti-fungal treatment.
So this makes it important for you to visit your doctor, get examined, diagnosed and treated for the specific infection. Every infection has its own presentation, infection-causing organism, and most importantly treatment regimen.
If you are indeed diagnosed with an infection which is not of fungal origin, then the appropriate treatment regimen will be advised and you will surely experience a response.
But if this is indeed a fungal infection, then the possibilities include you now being resistant to this particular medication, requiring a change of medication or possibly a different infection-causing organism that responds to a whole different treatment regimen.
In the meantime, it goes without saying, please abstain from all forms of sexual contact, and in the future, only self-medicate if you are sure about your diagnosis and your doctor has advised you to do so. Wishing you lots of luck and a healthy infection-free life hereafter.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
