Having Angina While Lifting Heavy Objects And Walking A Little Distance. Has Hoarseness In Breath, Chest Heaviness, Weakness. Suggestions?
Hello, My grandma has had heart attacks in the past. For the past three days she has been experiencing angina after such activities is picking up a gallon of milk or walking couple of blocks. When an episode of angina starts she has hoarseness of breath, elephant on chest , and weakness. The pain radiates to the back right side. After nitroglycerine and resting for couple of hours the pain goes away. Is this unstable angina and should she be going to the ER ASAP.
Hi there,
Thanks for writing in.
I am a qualified and certified cardiologist and I read your question with diligence.
Yes you are right: your grandma is having what we call is unstable angina. Hoarseness is known to occur in enlarged heart. She is in urgent need of a specialist's help. If you can get an appointment with cardiologist or medical specialist with interest in cardiologist, he/she can determine the severity of problems and need for how intensive medical therapy. Important question which demands an answer is does she need hospitalization? Then comes the issue of intervention to restore the blood supply to heart. These issues can be resolved by a specialist. Good Luck.
With Best Wishes
