Having Cough, Itching Sensation In Chest. Smoker. Any Ideas?
Hi. My girlfriend has had fits of coughing at night. Its been going on for about 2 weeks. She says it feels as if there is a itching sensation to cough within her chest. There is no phlem or blood. Just coughing. She is a smoker and we're not to sure if asthma runs in her family. We have very little money for a doctor. Any ideas as to what it could be?

The cough could possibly related to her habit of smoking. I suggest your girl friend for complete abstinence from smoking, gargling with a glass of lukewarm water with 2 table spoon of salt added will help relieve congestion in throat.

Dear Friend.
If she has bouts of coughing in night only, she might be having a Respiratory tract infection or might be asthma, allergic bronchitis.
Smoker's Cough usually occurs in morning.
Does she has audible wheezes?
Any fever?
I suggest , she should not be smoking in any case.
Check out, does she gets exposed to anything in night, which is not around her in day, following which she gets cough, like a new blanket.
She should take regular steams. And in any case she needs an evaluation to find the cause.
Stay Healthy
