Is Anesthesia Safe In Cough?

had cough so i had to postpone my surgury .i have cough only when i get up wet cough and irritation.had antibiotics and cough syrup no use my surgury is on tuesday so worried is enthesia safe in cough as i dont have cough al the day only when i get up

In terms of safety, yes it is generally safe to undergo anesthesia if you only have a mild cough that is not present during the day. If you are actively coughing, anesthetists generally tend to cancel procedures because general anesthesia involves intubation, which itself causes throat irritation and worsens the cough.

In your case, provided you remain well and not cough during the day, then I don't see anything that should stand in the way of your operation, from a safety point of view. The anesthetist who will do your pre-operative assessment will obviously have the final say in this but in my opinion I don't see the cough at night making it unsafe to have the operation.
