Hello I hit my shin on a trailer hitch a week ago it instantly swelled up to a golf ball size 4 inches bellow my knee joint on my tibia bone the blue dark purple bruising went from the impact area and traveled down my leg this happened a week ago and the the swelling the size of the golf ball has not change but I have no pain when walking or moving and the bruising is still between the area of swelling and my ankle. I have had pin and screw put in from a privious break on the same leg from the top of tibia to bottom of tibia above the ankle the impact area is 1.5 inches below the top screw of pin I am woundering if I should be concerned? Thankyou
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The appearance of the bruise in the area is indicative of an internal bleeding in the area. This needs to be examined and if needed, surgically drained under the antibiotic cover to prevent any infection. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
