Having Fever And Sore Throat. Noticed Yellow Spots On Back Of The Throat. Should I Start Amoxicillin?
hi. My 4 and a half yr old daughter has a 39 degree temp and very sore throat. I can see lots of little pale yellow spots at the very back of her throat. I happen to have some Amoxicillin 250mg/5ml that was prescribed (still in powder form) but not used as her ear infection last month improved without intervention. Should I start Amoxicillin?
The symptoms mentioned in your post suggests that your daughter might be having Pharyngitis.
Management consists of: 1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain. 2. Analgesics like paracetamol 3. Antibiotics like amoxicillin to be administered only under the guidance of a Physician, as the dosage has to be calculated based on the age and body weight of the child. 4. Antihistamine preparations can also be used to provide symptomatic relief.
So, kindly consult the Physician and start treatment accordingly. Meanwhile...your child should avoid cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.
There is no need to worry...she will be perfectly fine. Wish her good health & a speedy recovery. Thanks & take care.
