Having Fluid Behind Left Eardrum Causing Blockage In Hearing, Prescribed Steroid. Can This Help?
I amm 58 years young and have been diagnosed to have fluid behind my left eardrum causing blockage (partial) in my hearing from left ear. I have been advised to take steroid along with antibiotics. Can this help to bring it to normal or can you suggest any thing for me to get fast recovery. thanks
You seem to be having ear block due to an effusion which is quite common and do not worry, it will get better in a couple of weeks or so.
You may try these which may help you recover faster: -steam inhalation with menthol or any other vaporiser at least three times in a day for a week or so -In my patients with effusion, I would usually recommend this maneuver. Swallow after against a closed nose! -take a course of antihistamine like levocetrizine. Your doctor will know about this -if you have respiratory infection, you must take the proper medication for the control of the same in consultation with your doctor. since you already have taken steroid and antibiotics, you are in the right track. You must complete the full course.
Hope this helps
