General & Family Physician, Dr. Ramakant's Response
Hello,
The frequent taking of plan B is not recommended as it may cause bleeding and irregular menstrual cycle as the side effect.
Though the fertile period and the best time to get pregnant is 14 days prior to the start of next periods, the chances of pregnancy are less.
Sometimes the ovulation time may vary and the sperm also survive in genital tract for 72 hrs and in that case the pregnancy may occur.
She may have the serum hcg test done to rule out pregnancy. The sonography of uterus is more confirmatory investigation.
Thank you
