Having Pain At Lower Back And Felt Flu. Told To Be Pelvic Infection, Given Shots And Put On Cipro

I had been having a strange pain in the middle of my lower back, and my body felt like I had the flu but I never had a fever. I saw the dr. And he says I had pelvic infection. Gave me a set of 3 shots and put me on the antibiotic Cipro for 8 days. I finished the antibiotics and am feeling the pain come back. My whole pelvic region tingles, and my back feels strange. I don't have much of an appetite, my poop has looked like pebbles the 2 days, and I feel very weak. I also think I have hemmoroids? What is going on? I also suffer from severe anxiety, and if I'm sick with anything I automatically think the worst. I would appreciate an opinion!i am a 33 yr old female.

Infectious Diseases Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM.
I agree with your doctor as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) usually presents with low back pain and discharge. Ciprofloxacin is one of the medications usually prescribed for such infections. But if pain has recurred after therapy then I suggest testing done for a cervical swab and culture to find out if infection has recurred. Culture and sensitivity will help the doctor decide the antibiotics he can give you to reduce the infection. Hemmorhoids occurs when the anal veins get dilated and they bleed when patient has constipation. I suggest you drink lots of water and take fluid diet till you get well. Please relax and PID is completely treatable. Wishing you speedy recovery. Thanks.
