Having Pain In The Stomach And Abdomen. Hurts More When I Cough Or Sneeze. What Could This Be?

Hi,

I have a severe, sharp pain on the right side of my stomach, just below the ribs. I went to the hospital, got blood tests done, a urine test done, and even had an ultrasound done but everything turned out to be normal.
It hurts when I walk, breathe (whenever I take a deep breath, my entire abdomen hurts but the worst pain is on the right side), cough, sneeze, lie down, and pretty much every time I move. I have had this pain for 3 days now and it has not gotten any worse but it has also not gotten any better.
I do work in landscaping and do manual labor but I had had two days off before I woke up with this pain and felt fine on my last day of work.

Any ideas what this could be?

thanks!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
With the available described symptoms, there could be possibility of lower respiratory tract infection or muscular ache.
Aggravation of pain on sneezing and coughing suggests the diagnosis.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ chest physician and should go for thorough check up.
You should also go for chest x ray, complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
Treatment depends on exact diagnosis.
Meanwhile, you should take analgesics along with muscle relaxants, cough suppressants.
Avoid cold drinks, oily food.
Perform gargles three times in a day; a glass of lukewarm water with a pinch of salts.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
