Having Painful Circular Growth Under Fingernail. What Is This?
My husband has a growth under lhis fingernail that is circular and in the middle of the end of his finger. It is very painful if touched and it looks like it is growing. He had a stroke 13 years ago and has very limited used of his left hand. This is the hand that has the growth on it. The growth is very hard like a fingernail.
I can understand your concern for the painful circular growth under fingernail of your husband.
As per the description painful circular growth under fingernail is most commonly subungual myxoma.
Subungual myxomas are uncommon, benign, expansile lesions that club the fingertip. These growths are to be excised . Most commnly the nail matrix is incised, which results in permanent nail deformity.
Recently a better midlateral approach that not only spares the nail apparatus and does not result in deformity.
You can discuss above with a surgeon and can go for the excision accordingly. DO go for histologic examination of the tumor after excision.
Take care.
