What Causes A Black Line Underneath The Fingernail?

my daughter just showed me her fingernail. She had a baby 3mos ago and has one fingernail with a dark black line. She said it appeared during pregnancy and since the birth the black line has stopped growing at the bottom of the fingernail. Is this common during pregnancy?

Hi,

So far as symptoms narrated here, there sounds minute hematoma underneath the nail, giving black line. It has no relation to pregnancy, it is a co-related accidental finding.
