I don't think I can live much longer with this. please tell me any advise as to what you think may be the root of my problem. thank-you. janice
Some times excessive or prolonged retraction of the nerve during surgery can cause leg pain and numbness. usually this resolves in about 3 to 6 months. In your case detailed clinical examination as well as evaluation of MRI of the spine will be needed to find out the cause of pain.
The treatment of the problem will certainly depend upon the pathology however symptomatic treatment offering pain relief would be medications like pregabalin or gabapentin. Depending on the findings in the MRI selective nerve root blocks may help alleviate pain.
Hope this is helpful. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
