Having Small Splenic Vein, Enlarged Spleen And Gastric Verices. Treatment For The Condition? Suggest
I have been found by a gastroenecronoligist (sp.) to have a small diameter splenic vein, a slightly enlarged spleen and gastric verices. Is there a way the vein may be treated/opened to avoid spleen removal and can you suggest an expert in modern treatment of this rare condition? I've had lymphoma but it has not returned from over 2 years ago when chemo stopped.
Hi and welcome to HCM.
There are complicated procedure which can preserve your spleen but there is absolutely no need for that. Spleen removal is a routine procedure and it leavs minimal consequences. You shouldnt risk with some other methods which can have doubtful outcome. Spleen shall probably grow more and you ll have to remove it sooner or later. Its immune function can be replaced by vaccinations and this shouldnt worry you. WIsh you good health.
