How Can Neck Lymph Nodes With Pain, Swelling And Hardness Be Treated?

I have had one lymph node swollen in my neck for over a month. It is very tender to the touch and more are appearing in the area. The one is hard but moveable the other is soft and more wide spread. I had laryngitis for a couple weeks and other than that have been pretty healthy. This is causing intense aching in my neck and down into my shoulder. Any ideas?

Hello,

Since you have lymph nodes that are hard, you are suggested to get it clinically examined by and ENT. Get blood analysis, urinalysis, imaging tests (MRI) done. Your treating doctor may recommend you to get biopsy done to detect malignancy. You will be accordingly treated. If the lymph nodes are due to infection, you will be given conservative treatment with analgesic and antibiotics. Take semi solid food so that it does not hurt your throat. Gargle with warm salt water at least three times daily.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
