Dear ginaweir, welcome to health magic.
You should go to your doctor in order to examine you and define the type of infection you have.
If this is not possible, I will assume that you have a vaginal
yeast infections and here are some information about it:
- It is a yeast infection which grows in moist areas of our body.
- The chances of having this infection increase if you take antibiotics, are pregnant or if you use
contraceptive pills containing
estrogen.
- It is not sexually transmitted, so it is not necessary to treat the partner.
- Common symptoms include pain (during urinating or intercourse), Itching and thick whitish
vaginal discharge.
- Diagnosis is suspected by the symptoms and confirmed by taking a vaginal swab.
- Topical creams or pessaries are a good treatment but the may cause irritation, so oral antifungals are a good alternative.
- Eating yogurt or even using it in your vagina may relieve itching and may be a good treatment.
- It may be more complicated if you are immune compromised ( pregnant, having
diabetes...) and so, treatment may be difficult.
- The following may help prevent vaginal thrush:
1- Wear cotton or silk underwear, which allows moist to evaporate, unlike nylon and other synthetic materials.
2- Wash and dry your underwear thoroughly and change it often in order to prevent dampness.
3- Avoid using feminine deodorant sprays or perfumes.
I hope these words were usefull and good luck.
Dr. Ahmed Bahaa.
