Head Feeling Heavy, Heart Palpitations. All Tests Normal. Prescribed Hydrochlorothyazide For High BP, Feeling Fatigue. Reason?

I am a 29 year old female. I have struggled with my weight most of the life. Beginning last Friday, my head felt very heavy and I was having heart palpitations. I went to the emergency room. I had an ECG done. They took blood and I gave a urine sample. They did a renal function index, a pregnancy test, urinary analysis, basic metabolic panel, and complete blood count. The results were within the normal range. I did not have much of an appetite after that which accompanied nausea. I'm not sure if this was my response to being sick. I am not sick often. Saturday was much of the same and I went back to the ER. Same results except I was put on hydrochlorothyazide for elevated blood pressure. I do not have the nausea anymore. However, I feel very fatigued and winded with the slightest activity. I still feel a little heaviness in my head that is affecting my balance in a small way. I have not fallen or fainted. My blood pressure has remained elevated the past few days even with the hydrochlorothyazide. My physician has increased the dosage of the water pill and prescribed Zyrtec for the heaviness in my head. However, I am still concerned about my condition.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

PALPITATION
Standard ECG records the electrical activity of the heart, for a few seconds. It can detect the cause of palpitation occurring during that time only. If the episode occurs randomly or precipitated by a specific activity like exercise, one needs Holter or event monitor.

BALANCE & HEAVY HEAD
The body's balancing mechanism is in the inner ear. An ENT (Ear Nose Throat) specialist is the one to see - they have special tests to confirm or exclude the contribution of the ear.
If the ear is excluded, you have to be seen by a neurologist. / MRI may be needed.

PRESSURE
It may be wiser to add another drug rather than increasing the dose of thiazide...
Electrolytes may have to be checked.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
