Head Injury. Memory Loss, Sore Throat. CT Scan Okay. Any Advice?

I crashed my motorcycle monday and hit the front part of my head. I was out of it with memory loss etc. CT scan ok. I immediately had a painful sore throat obviously from trauma not infection. Today, Friday, something happened and there is a point just left of my adams apple very tender and painful when I swallow. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

CT scan was done to rule out any head injury. If you had any trauma to neck and throat. it will not be seen on CT scan. You can get a Doppler of neck vessels done to look for injury to carotids, thyroid gland and any neck structures. It is possible that there was a muscle injury leading to little amount of bleeding within the muscles in the neck and hematoma formation. This will be known on ultrasound scan of neck.

A X ray of cervical spine may helps to see for any cervical muscle spasm.

Hope this helps
