Head Injury Behind Head, Lump On Head, Sore Neck Muscles, Dizziness. Cause Of Worry?

Two days ago I fell and hit the back of my head on hardwood floor. No major symptoms. Talked to an Ask a Nurse at local hospital and was told to just observe my situation. Other than a lump on head and sore neck muscles I have been fine. This morning woke with some slight dizziness . Is that something I should expect?

Thanks for your query.Every head injury should be viewed and taken seriously. After a headinjury it is common practise to observe for certain warning symptoms which would be suggestive of internal bleeding. These symptoms are loss of consciousness, headache, blurred vision, unstable gait or irregular speech, vomiting etc.If you have any of the aforementioned complaints i would advise you to meet a neurosurgeon immediately. Also it is advisable to schedule a CT scan of the brain to look for internal bleeds. If you do not have the aforementioned complaints i would suggest you to take complete rest for the next couple of days and also take a mild analgesic for soreness and headache such as paracetamol.Hope this answers your query. Thanks
