Headache, Chills, Weakness. Taking Tylenol. Stiff Neck, Cough, Low Appetite. Any Ideas?

I have a headache, chills, weakness all over and i was in the sun all day at a golf tourney on Saturday. The symptoms are mainly worse at night and i have been taking extra strenth tylenol. I have a slight cough (i am a smoker) and when i cough my head feels like i am being hit over and over again. My neck has also stiffined up as a result of all the pain.

Appetite is not as per usual as in its less than normal and i am a bit nausous but have not thrown up as of yet.

I am not sure if it is a flu or heat caused issue. Any idea?

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

Most likely it could be part of a viral fever. I would advise you to take tylenol for 2 days.

Drink warm water at regular intervals.

Steam inhalation three times a day.

Drink soups and warm fluids.

All these measures should bring about some relief.

If you don't feel better in 2 days, please visit your physician.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
