Heart Disease, numerous Heart Attack, sleeping Lot,defibrillator Going Off In Night

My father has heart disease and numerous heart attacks. He has been sleeping a lot now. The doctors didn t even expect him to make it to last Christmas, but he did. They say his difibrilator has been going off nightly. Why is he sleeping so much, is this a precursor to him dying?

Hi there...
Excessive sleeping in a patient having underlying heart disease can be because of low blood oxygen level and excess carbondioxide build up,or it can be because of low level of thyroid hormone so i will suggest him to get his arterial blood gases and thyroid function test please.
Regards.
