I had an abortion in May 2013 after which i got my periods as normal one of which was heavy than otherwise. On 29th August i started blood spotting which was dark brownish in color and mild pain, my doctor conducted a sonography and found i have 2 ovarian cyst present in my left ovary. I have been prescribed Regestrone 5mg tablets for 10days to be taken morning and evening. What is this tablet for and how soon will i recover from the cysts. My period is due on 11th Sept.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. You are having Ovarian cyst and we call as PCOD . Now you are taking regestrone ,ingredient is norethisterone and as far as known to me this will not cure or effective against ovarian cyst. This tablet is used in Dysfunctional uterine bleeding ( most common in ovarian cyst), psotponement of menses, amennorrhoea, endometriosis etc . In my opinion you should consult one more gynaecologist and get his opinion (2nd) . Good luck. Dr. HET
