Both my partner and I are in a monogamous relationship. We are both infected with HSV1 in the genital area. I am currently having an outbreak so we are going to abstain from sex, but I am wondering if performing oral sex on my partner puts me at risk for getting the virus on my mouth (even though I already have it on my genitalia). I would greatly appreciate any advice you have!! We are long distance and this will be the only time I will see him for a few months, so it would be very disappointing if we had to abstain from sexual contact completely.
