Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am 52 and was told earlier this year that I had a silent heart attack. I have had Type 2 Diabetes for almost 20 years and within the last year it has changed a lot. Glucose is 1100 with metformin and another injectable companion drug. My feet and legs have been swollen for about 3 weeks . The Dr. said today that isn't my heart and it is is most likely caused by Diabetes. He put me on birth control pills a month ago to regulate me as I have had such a heavy flow; however my period had finished a week ago and suddenly came back gushing. My Dr. changed the B.C. pills and said I would not have a period for 3 months but if it should start to call the office and he would refer me to a cardiologist. He feels this is caused by my Diabetes and since he said all the tests show my heart is in good condition which is true of my chloresterol and other tests he ran. My question is why wouldn't he refer me to an internist since he suspects it is the Diabetes? Thank you.
