Hello, I Am A 42 Year Old Female Currently On

Hello, I am a 42 year old female currently on birth control to help control the ups and downs of my menstral cycle. Unfortunately the last few months have gone terribly wrong. I had a 14 day period went to see primary care doc and he said double up one or two days next time I start and it should help stop the period or at least shorten it. I started again on February 9th. I took two bc pills on the 12th so I would not be on my period for Valentines. I stopped bleeding on the 14th but resumed bleeding the very next day and have bled every day since. I have tried the "double up" BC method two other days and the bleeding will not stop. What can I do?
