Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am female and 18 years old. I've been in a relationship for 7 months and I had sexual intercourse for the first time last night. It was quite sore to begin with but it disappeared as it went on, there was only a little blood and I thought all this was expected as I was a virgin. When I woke up the next day and went for a shower I saw there was blood down near the opening of my vagina (it lasted for under a minute at most). I realised I have a tear in the opening of my vagina (the only tear from what I can see) and the tear has a white layer where it tore. It is around a 1-1.5cm tear . There is no pain in general or when urinating it's just a bit uncomfortable, so I was just wondering if the layer was it healing itself or is that a sign of infection? And would a tear that size need stitches or is it okay? Thankyou!
