Hello, I Have A Lumbar-sacral Injury Causing Severe Sciatica On

Hello, I have a lumbar-sacral injury causing severe sciatica on left side, and a thoracic injury causing awful chest pain, shoulder-spinal pain unabated 6+ months. My doctor FINALLY put me on morphine sulfate ER 15-mg every 12h, but we upped that to every 8h (from 2 to 3 tablets per day). I see him tomorrow to tell him the pain relief is inadequate. He has me taking Norco 10-mg for breakthrough pain, although I asked him for MS immediate relief to see if that would work better than hydrocodone. He's concerned about the "abuse potential" with MS - IR, so he's unwilling to try that (even though I'm 61-y.o. and don't abuse opiates. How can I get him to try MS IR? I've read for some folks morphine works better than hydrocodone. There's a medicine called "rescue dose" that's a liquid oral morphine for breakthrough pain. The pain I have is chronic and severe where I can't do anything in such severity of pain (except want to die).
