Hello, I hope you are well. I am 21 years old. I have a laparoscopic surgery due for bilateral adnexal cysts due on 12th of May. I am also a patient of polycystic ovaries; my FSH:LH ratio is 1:4. LH is normally raised outside of ovulation at 28 units. I am also on a combination birth control pill, Yaz, although after dietary changes and other supplements, my cycle naturally regulated itself around four to five months ago (something which it had never done before). My ovaries were also enlarged and filled with tiny follicles but are now normal in size. The main issue remains with raised LH levels, worsened hirsutism on chin and the growing adnexal cysts.
My partner and I had unprotected sex on Wednesday, 26th of April i.e. we did not use a condom or ecp, as I am on birth control. I took the pill on time that day. However, the next three or four days I messed up the timing a bit; I took the pill late by an hour or two (never more than three hours). I am facing an immense pregnancy scare ever since. I did have breakthrough spotting on Tuesday, 2nd of May, and have been experiencing cramping every two hours or so for the nine to ten days. I normally get my period on the 12th or 14th of each month.
All in all, I have never missed a single pill, or been late for more than two hours and other than those three-four days, have been taking my birth control most regularly. Is it likely that I am pregnant? Can I still go ahead with the surgery? If I do go ahead with the surgery, what is the worst that can happen? Is there a danger to my life if I do? Will my doctor be able to tell that I'm pregnant during surgery?
