Hello. I Last Saw My VA Dr. This Last Friday

Hello. I last saw my VA Dr. this last Friday (3 days ago), for a deep pain I had in the muscle area in my right buttocks. After pin pointing the location of the pain, he said it was the piriformis muscle. I also had a very mild rash on the right side of my scrotum, and lower base of my penis. I did not mention this at the time because I thought it was caused by a new pair of boxers I wore for the first time. That was the first time I noticed a 'rashy' sensation, but it was so minor, I just figured it was the fabric (or something) in the boxers, and stopped wearing them. Over the weekend after seeing my DR. , the rash on my scrotum became much worse and very painful. It almost hurts too much to get a good look at it, but the part covering the base of my penis, there are patches of Dry-Looking blisters with a little blackish dot in the middle. ALSO, now I noticed patchy-hard bumps (blisters?) at the top of my 'Butt Crack', all the way down to my anus. On one spot there is a large bump about the size of dime or smaller. These do not hurt like the rash on my scrotum, but are mildly sore if I push on them. All of the rashes are on the righter side. AND I have severally noticeable difficulty urinating since this all started. It is mostly a very slow stream with a slight burning feeling. I have never had an STD, but I did get chickenpox twice as a child. I just turned 49 and wonder if this might be shingles?
I had mentioned my Dr is a VA Dr, and appointments are hard to schedule. Should I wait and see if I can get in when ever he is available (up to a couple weeks to a month or so), or does this sound like something I should go to the ER for? Coould it be Shingles? Or something much worse?
If it helps, I have not had sex in almost a year, and have not traveled anywhere outside of my area in California.
Thanks SO much, and I hope this wasn't too wordy.
