Hello.

I was just put on a prescription of amlodipine 5mg for a bout of extremely high blood pressure. I really do not like this drug. I was taking a bilberry supplement for vein support to treat ongoing edema from an injury when I found out that my hypertension had returned. It worked alright for the edema. But the blood pressure is another story. I'm not sure if the bilberry is a blessing or a curse because it worked so well that I had no symptoms, but it worked so poorly that my blood pressure got out of control. So now I'm on amlodipine and it treats my DIASTOLIC blood pressure just fine, but it doesn't do all that much for the SYSTOLIC BP. It also does nothing to address the other issues that I was treating. If anything, it seems to be complicating the situation and worsening the edema. So I was wondering if I could take the bilberry for vein support. I was on lysinopril before and would like to go back on that, but I've heard that it can be somewhat tricky and lose effectiveness if you stop taking it. Do you think that going back on the lysinopril with a higher dose would help at all? I was taking the low-dose lysinopril.
