Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I would like to talk with a doctor who specialises in lymphoma. My dad most likely has a form of an agressive lymphoma. We only noticed it a week ago when his leg suddenly started to swell. This was due to swollen lymph nodes in his groin and abdomen. A CT was taken of the upper body (from the groins up to the neck) It did not show any other swollen lymph nodes than those in the groin and abdomen. He also had some bloodtests done, in which one, LDH showed up elevated. He is having a biopsy of his lymphnode in his groin tomorrow (One week after they suspected the diagnosis) They are only taking a biopsy of a part of the lymph node (they are not taking the whole thing out) So my questions are: This is probably a aggresive form of lymphoma. Shouldnt a biopsy have been taken earlier than after a week? The biopsy will also most likely take one week to get the result = 2 weeks from suspecting the lymphoma to getting it diagnosed. How fast does a aggresive lymphoma grow? Will 2 weeks be to late? And will they be able to see what kind of lymphoma it is when they only use a needle biopsy?
