Hello. Im 16 years old now and i have hair fall. My hairfall started last year in the month of June and lasted until first week of April. During this school year, I became more stressed and had restless nights because of the activities of our organizations and our research. It s been 10 months of hair shedding and my hair became thinner. They said shedding of hair is natural and that i dont have to worry about it. May hairfall everyday is no more than 55 strands of hair( i think). Fortunately, it stopped on the mid of april. However, it came back on May and still shedding right now. Alrhough it is not severe like the 10 month hairfall, im still worried. im about to go to college in August and i just want to fix this problem. thank you very much! God bless!
To me, we should rule out anemia and other vitamins deficiencies first. So, need to run a few lab tests including: - Complete blood count - Iron levels - Blood levels of vitamin D, calcium - Skin scrapping and hair examination under microscope
If everything is okay, then, it could be: - Hormonal - New shampoo or other hair cosmetic products - Genetic
However, first you should rule out other pathologies.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
