Hello,
My 8 year old son was seen in the emergency room for appendicitis like symptoms 2 times in the last 2 months. The last time was Thursday, so they did a CT scan on him. The said he had mesenteric adenitis that was likely cause from a stomach virus and sent him home. He had no fever either time. the last time was vomiting. He has complained of severe stomach pains several times a week, day or night for the last few months but I cannot get any answers. He has also had a growing clump of lymph nodes on his neck for a year or so that his doctor and a few emergency room doctors looked at, which continues to grow slowly. They ran an antibiotics course on it and no change, so they said we will just keep an eye on it. Also on Thursday they found that both of his testicles are undescended, but they aren't sure why, so we will be following up with a urologist soon. My question is, Could any of this be related? The swollen lymph glands/nodes in his CT scan and on his neck? Could there be an underlying cause that I should push to have checked, an autoimmune disorder or allergy? I read that the growing area of lymph nodes on his neck for this long with no response to the antibiotics should have been biopsied by now. I am just very worried. many cancers, yes skin cancer too, Chron's and other GI diseases run in my family and I almost lost this son to C.DIff when he was 7 months old. Thanks for any comfort or advice you may be able to offer.
