Hi - I've been losing hair since I was a teenager. I am now 42 with very thin hair. I know that the causes could be many but how do I get my doctor to help me find the problem, and maybe a solution? Are there specific tests I should ask for? I've been to many doctors and I have received shrugs, told there was nothing they could do or comments like "you still have hair." It's frustrating and disheartening, and psychologically damaging as a woman. I know I won't ever get back the thick hair I once had but I would like to prevent further hairloss, at least. My scalp is visible and I try to hide the badly thinning areas as best I can. Can't do that forever.
I have controlled type II diabetes. I am on a pescatarian diet and have been on one for almost 7 months. I workout regularly, don't drink/smoke and take multivitamins. I'm on vitamin D therapy as I'm fairly deficient (100k iu weekly).
