Hi Dr. Andrew, I've Had A Ringing In One Ear

Hi Dr. Andrew,
I've had a ringing in one ear for roughly 3 weeks. I have had a slight cold within the time as I have a 3 year old that had and I believe still has a cold. I recently went to a Dr. who said he only saw slight puffinies in the ear I have ringing in and advised I wait another 2 - 3 weeks to see if it goes away before I go to a ENT Dr. I am concerned that if it is an Ear infection of sorts that by then it could get worse. I am 39 and can't recall ever having an ear infection. There is no additional pain but some pressure differences once in a while in that ear but always a high pitch ringing. Any suggestions or idea of what it could be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Chuck
