Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I am a 22 year old female who previously had a Paraguard copper IUD. I got it removed a few weeks ago due to feeling like it was out of place. It turns out that it had been out of place since my first period (2.5 years) and that was disguised by the fact that the doctor trimmed my strings again at my follow up appt. The strings were only an inch long after removal. Anyways, It turned out that it had partially expelled and was sticking out of my cervix ~half a cm for three weeks prior to the removal which is why I experienced discomfort and bleeding. Well now it has been 10 days since the removal and I am STILL bleeding. It is light, like a few tsp a day if that. It is worse when I am physically active. I think the cramping has stopped, but at times I do feel uncomfortable in certain positions. Additionally I took a pregnancy test to rule out an eptopic pregnancy. What could the issue be?
