Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 52 woman. I went through menopause about 2 years ago and do not take any hormone therapy. I had a bone density scan and was diagnosed with Ostopenia. My hips are the major concern and are close to the Osteoporosis scale. I am very cautious about taking medications but I am fearful that my bones will become weaker. I already eat a healthy diet that includes many recommended foods for osteoporosis. In addition I do bone bearing excersise including walking and weight training. I also do yoga and Pilates but have read that some yoga poses may not be good to do. Regarding medication, my doctor has recommended taking something for 2 years and then have another bone scan to see if I have made progress. What medications do you think are effective with the least side effects? Are there any proven " natural" medications? Thank you
