Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a MD myself and I would like a consultation regarding one gastroenterology case. Women L.A. 60 y.o. suffering from DM type 2 (glucophage XR 1000mg), Asthma (Berodual inhalation tid). Mildly obese, no other significant comorbidities. She had colorectal cancer in colon ascedens in april 2015 (signet ring cell T3N0 Mx) succesfully operated, received no HT or RT. She is generally feeling well but from August 2017 by routine blood tests she has had elevated CEA 6.0 and another one in june 2018 (CEA 12.0). Ca 19-9 is within reference range. CT body scan (April 2018) showed no significant trace of metastasis with no visible local recidive. Colonoscopy (September 2017) was also fine. Any ideas what might have caused CEA elevation? Should we make some other diagnostic tests? Might it be that disease came back? Big thanks for your time and answer. Best regards Bane Ralic, MD neurology resident
