Hi, I Had ORIF On My Fractured Wrist And Six

Hi, I had ORIF on my fractured wrist and six months later the hardware was removed. After both surgeries, I woke up with an intense burning pain in my arm and a nerve block was then given. Is there a reason why no local anesthesia is given during these procedures? Is it to test nerves in the hand or similar? Thanks.
