Hi, I have all the symptoms of polymalgia rheumatica. I am being treated by orthopedic doctor for severe lower back pain which occurred after 2 back surgeries with no success. I just made an appointment with her to ask her to give me a prescription for Prednisone as suggested in the article that I read about polymyalgia rheumatica. As a type 2 diabetic, I am aware that prednisone will elevate my glucose readings. I am currently on a sliding scale of humalog and lantus. Should I request the prescription for prednisone? My pain is getting worse and is preventing me from doing ordinary activities.
I need to mention that the pain in both of my shoulders began suddenly last Oct. Doctor injected a cortione shot in both shoulders which did not stop the pain.
I was also taking Zocor which I discontinued taking in April. The muscles in both of my arms were swollen and quite painful. After discontinuing taking Zocor I felt some relief with the muscle pain; however the pain has returned.
