Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had urethritis about two or three times in my life.
A couple of weeks ago I saw a drop of white discharge at the tip of my urethra and suspected urethritis again. This happened without me having had unprotected sex.
I went to the doctor and had a swob test done.
I got the results and I have what seems a mild infection with Staphilococcus Hominis.
He prescribed Doxiciclin.
1. Is this an infection? I read this is a pretty common bacterium present on the skin.
2. Should I treat it?
3. Why do I get urethritis so often? Other than oral sex, I don't have unprotected sex. (I'm hiv neg and don't think my immune system is weak)
Thanks!
