Hi. I'm a 50 year old female with a history of RNY gastric bypass in 2007 and an AVR in 2011. I've had a hernia repair and gallbladder removal after my gastric bypass back in 2009. I was treated for bronchitis with antibiotics and 5 days of oral steroids about 2 weeks ago. I was feeling better after those medications. Then last Tuesday I started having a stabbing like pain under my left ribcage. It is worse when I take a deep breath. After 3 days of this it was not getting better I went to the ER yesterday. My CXR was clear and all of my cardiac labs including my D-dimer and troponin levels were fine, so it was not an MI. My BP was stable so they didn't think I was having an aortic dissection. They called it chest pain of unknown origin and sent me home w/Hydrocet for my pain. Today it's the same if not worse. These last 2 days I've been belching persistently. I'm wondering if this could be gut related. I'm miserable. I have a headache and am tired of hurting. What should I do next? What could this be? I'm not nauseous, not vomiting, no diarrhea. It just really hurts up under my left breast/ left ribcage when I take a deep breath, a sharp stabbing pain. Could it be a hernia? Nothing is bulging under there, but it is tender to palpation. I am on Neurontin/Tramadol for fibromyalgia. Lexapro for depression/anxiety. Warfarin for my valve. I do have a great PCP and plan to call her on Monday if this does not improve. I feel like it should be getting better but it's not. It's slowly getting worse. Thank you for any information you can shed on this. I've been a nurse for the past 29 years if you are wondering. Thanks.
