Hi. Male 57. Diagnosed W/CAD After Stint Placed Dec 2010

Hi. Male 57. Diagnosed w/CAD after stint placed Dec 2010 (Low AD). High cholesterol treatment, 2 changed statins since early 30's. FINALLY decided to make the lifestyle and diet changes to improve my health. Have slowly dropped from mid 290's to now 220's and I am not stopping an effort to lose weight until my BMI is in the normal range again. (180ish)... Diet now removes all glutens (also have Celiac) and all processed foods... eating really close to the ground so to speak with only healthy fats (that could open a can of worms I guess) like coconut oils, fatty fish like salmon and limited red meats or pork. Total Cholesterol down to 150's now - taking 40mg simvastatin. LDL still slightly elevated though. Question is: will I someday possibly be able to reduce or hopefully STOP taking statin medications? Or are the side effects from this many years on the drug going to cause problems?
