Hi. My Indoor 6 Years Old Cat Has An Aural

Hi. My indoor 6 years old cat has an aural hematoma. He never contact with another cats or dogs, always in a house. I noticed on Saturday 11 days ago the top of one ear to be down.On Monday 2 days later he developed an aural hematoma. I brought him to the Vet. on Tuesday, no infections in his ears. The Vet. told us that recovery from the surgery will be very painful. She gave him a shot of prednisolone. She also gave us a prescription of prednisolone to take 2.5 mg daily orally for the first 6 days, then 2.5 mg every other day 4 times. It is looks like the hematoma does not get bigger but the ear on top start to shrink. I read that prednisalone reduce swelling and pain. Today is already 11th day since the symptoms start. I gave him for 6 days prednisalone orally. Should i start to skip 2.5mg a day prednisalone orally or continious? For how long i should give prednisalone? I afraid if i will start skipping the swelling will be back. My cat 13.8pounds, never was sick. Thank you. Zhanna
