Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm a 28 year old male from mumbai suffering from acute hairfall. The first time i noticed this was in 2008 but that time i hada head full of hair so i assumed that it was a natural thing and didnt bother. Currently i have bald patches at the top of my head which is leaving me worried. A little bit about my medical history; i suffer from minor psoriasis mainly on my elbow and ankles. My father died of heart disease and was a diabetic if that is of any help. Moreover no one in my family neither dad not mom side has a history of baldness. I notice that my hair falls of even at the slightest touch it is extremely thin and at times it has a pale yellow bulb attached to the end. further i also suffer from an oily scalp and some notice some oil slimy dandruff like residue remains in my fingernails when i itch my scalp. niether me nor my doctors have been able to diagnose the cause. I merely want to know whether the hairfall is because of psoriasis, or is it alopecia or some have said it is seborroheic dermatitis. Unless this is determined i cannot decide a future course of action. I can send you pictures of my scalp and hair and the dandruff like substance if need be.
