Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my Husband who will be 55 this year and a diabetic with high blood pressure. He take Metformin 2x daily; Lininopril; Hydrochlorothiazide; Amlodipine; Simvastin and most recently Atenolol. Also, 40 units of Lantus Solostar at bedtime. His Creatinine levels were fine March '13 0.75 - May '13 0.79 - Feb '14 0.97 - Mar '15 - 1.11 and Mar '16 1.83. He had a ultrasound of kidneys and came out normal. My question really is can Atenolol increase the creatinine level? Our PCP wants him to see a Nephrologist, is there a real concern? Thank you
